The piling work for the expansion project of a four-star hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, recently commenced. TYSIM RENTAL & SERVICE Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "TYSIM") has deployed its KR360M multi-purpose rotary drilling rig, built on a Caterpillar chassis, which has become the core equipment for the project due to its strong adaptability to complex ground conditions. The project involves the construction of bored piles with a diameter of 0.8m and an effective pile depth of 14m. The construction area presents challenges such as karst caves and large cobble strata.

Process Breakthrough: Full Casing + Caterpillar Chassis Addresses Geological Pain Points

Targeting the project's geological characteristics, the KR360M adopts the core solution of "full casing follow-drilling" and achieves efficient hole formation through its own configuration. First, the Caterpillar chassis ensures stable operation – the equipment is equipped with an adapted Caterpillar OEM custom rotary drilling chassis, boasting strong torque and overall machine weight advantages. When drilling in large cobblestone formations, it can effectively suppress machine vibration, ensure the verticality of casing lowering, and avoid casing deviation caused by unstable chassis. Secondly, the full casing process isolates risks – a casing matching the 0.8m pile diameter is used (with a reasonable gap reserved to ensure concrete pouring). During drilling, the casing is synchronously advanced below the bottom of karst caves, directly isolating the loose soil layer in the karst cave section and solving the hole collapse problem. When encountering large cobblestone formations, a combined operation of "cylinder drill crushing + sand bucket slag cleaning" is adopted. Finally, efficiency meets standards and quality is controllable – verified by on-site construction, under such geological conditions, the entire process of a single pile from casing lowering, drilling and slag cleaning to hole formation acceptance can be controlled within 6 hours, and the pile integrity all meets the design requirements.

High Drilling Efficiency: Customized Processes + Caterpillar Services Are Key to Construction

"Compared to previously used equipment, the KR360M has demonstrated greater stability when switching between two complex geological formations," said the project construction team leader. The application of the full-casing technology has significantly reduced rework rates, and the durability and stability of the Caterpillar-chassis rig enable an average daily operating time of over 16 hours, effectively ensuring schedule progress. Meanwhile, the construction process guidance provided by TYSIM Base allows timely adjustment of drilling parameters in response to on-site geological changes, further enhancing construction efficiency. As TYSIM Base's flagship product targeting the medium-to-large rotary drilling rental market, the core advantage of the KR360M lies in its ability to customize drilling solutions according to different geological conditions—such as karst caves, gravel, sandy layers, and hard rock—and to integrate various techniques including full-casing and mud wall protection. Furthermore, supported by the global service network of the internationally renowned Caterpillar chassis, after-sales support for overseas projects can be rapidly deployed, making it a key reason why many international engineering projects choose TYSIM.

Global Layout: Targeting Complex Strata to Expand the International Market

The application of TYSIM Base's KR360M Caterpillar chassis multi-functional rotary drilling rig in the Istanbul project has further demonstrated the equipment's capability to handle composite geological formations such as "cavity + gravel layers." In the future, efforts will continue to optimize the compatibility between equipment and construction methods based on the geological characteristics of different global regions. For instance, for complex strata commonly found in the Middle East, Europe, and other areas, more precise integrated services combining "equipment selection + process guidance" will be offered to support efficient overseas construction. Meanwhile, the global rental and service network will be continuously improved to enhance the international recognition of Chinese piling equipment.
